Campaign "Together against Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika virus"

03/05/2016

According to data from the Ministry of Health, cases of dengue, chikungunya and zika virus grew 46% in the first quarter of 2016 compared to the same period last year.

In relation to dengue and chikungunya, the most affected region in the first quarter of the year was the Midwest, with 164 cases per 100,000 inhabitants; the Southeast region being the second most affected region, recorded 113 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Already the zika virus is being transmitted by mosquitoes throughout 22 states in Brazil.

Given this endemic situation, Guarany, a 100% Brazilian company, with more than 90 years’ experience in the market in the manufacturer of machines for the fight against endemic vectors, and equipment ideal for both application of agricultural chemicals, as well as for firefighting, launched a campaign to fight the Aedes aegypti mosquito together with various municipalities.

The five regions of the country are already using the Guarany equipment, such as the Cold Aerosol (LECO), the 6L ULV Motorized Knapsack Mister and the Prévia Super 2S Compression Sprayers.

"This equipment is certified by the World Health Organization and approved by the Ministry of Health for the spatial control of flying insects in urban areas, including the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. By granting these certifications, it creates greater confidence for both the operators and the general public, with a view to ensuring that the equipment was developed for the use of domestic pesticide products, with accurate dosages and applications", explains Walter Marini, Guarany Commercial-Technical Manager.

According to this professional, one of the important advantages of this equipment is that it assists in the control process for mosquitoes in the adult stage. "Without doubt this has a very significant benefit for the entire population regarding our hope to eliminate the outbreak of the disease across the country", he adds.

Technology Seminar and Exhibition - "Confronting Aedes aegypti and the dengue, zika and chikungunya epidemic".

In order to raise awareness, transfer knowledge and disseminate technologies that can contribute to the prevention of these diseases that can be fatal and which are transmitted by the mosquito, Guarany attended the Seminar and Technology Exhibition, "Confronting the Aedes aegypti and dengue, zika and chikungunya epidemic", held in the Ribeirao Preto Convention Centre (SP).

Intended for managers and technicians of municipal and state health services throughout Brazil, the event featured a lecture by Julio Flávio Cassin, Guarany Commercial Technical Adviser. At the time, Mr. Cassin presented and guided the participants on the use of equipment designed to control and combat vectors and pests.
